Birds and Butterflies

Here are some photos of the newest selection of birds and butterfly jewelry hand drawn and crafted by me while Stefan reads out loud to us (we are currently reading G.R.R. Martin).
Sounds idyllic -and I guess it sort of is... Sometimes we watch X-factor though *wink*.

If you are interested in buying one let me know. Hopefully I'll be selling them in a shop (TBA) in Oxford before Christmas - and who knows maybe I'll start an etsy shop? What do you think?

Note to self - I need to work on my PhD too...

Sometinhg in the house that inspired me today!

Waking up to Stefan's bread (this time an Oatmeal loaf) is the best way to start the day.
How could I not be inspired!
As for the knitting I've done a purl and stitch course at Darn it and stitch so now I'm purling and stitching away trying out lots of different textures, who knew that you can do so much with only to kinds of stitching! Get out your knitting needles too!
In a week all be learning how to cable knit. whoo-hoo!
Thanks for stopping by!

Status quo

I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I'm a mother, I'm a wife
I'm a PhD student trying to lead a balanced life...
I'm a lady with a blog
trying to navigate through the fog...

-cheesy- yes I know.Poetry is not my strength *wink*
But this kind of sums up my life at the moment.

Being a mum brings out the worst and the best of me -never have I been so aware of the need for God's grace and never have I felt the laying down of self for someone else in this way. Truly I am a sinner and a saint. The two people that show me myself (and Christ) on a daily basis are:

Aline, who is now 4 months and she is the joy of our life. Without even knowing she might be the one who has taught me the most about myself and God, maybe ever.

Stefan is my man, I would not trade him for anything (-not even a life supply of vintage fabric in blues and greens and purples). The list of his attributes are to long to mention. However rumors have it that he might be starting his own blog to share his wisdom with the world so you might get to know him yourself in not too long.

My PhD buddy at the moment is Aquinas. He is long dead, but still baffles me in how relevant (and elegant) his thinking is - I just wish I had more time to read and write my PhD.

I really enjoy writing my little blog and it's been a great help to me in getting me making stuff, enjoying the little things, getting my thoughts straight and keeping me sane in through the fog and rain. (Thanks to all you you who have the patience to read my meanderings, encourage my making and for all the lovely comments you leave. You have no idea how many times you have made my day!)

As a new mum people ask me what the change is like and how I'm finding it
- truth be told I find as a new mum I haven't really had time to think about it...
But it is catching up with me now - so up until Christmas I want to try and articulate in different posts what motherhood has done to me.

So please bare with me in my ramblings - and my prayer is that you might find some inspiration and encouragement -maybe even a drop of wisdom in them too.

Fabric

Today was a long day at home alone with Aline -it could have become very dark, but with a little help from Aline's beautiful smile, a good cup of tea and the world wide web the day turned out to be very nice indeed.

I've tried something new!

I've designed my own fabric at Spoonflower.

What do you think?

I made it in different color combos too. Let me show you a couple:

So in the next week or so I should be getting a little packet with samples of my very own fabric
whoo-hoo!

I can't wait to see how the colors turns out and what the size of the apples actually will be. (I think they might be a bit on the small side...)

I'll let you know how it turns out!

Why don't you have a go?

Unedtited -Best friday in a longwhile

Last week we had Stefan's Grandparents and sister visiting us in Oxford -we had a lovely time!

Here is Aline getting to know the hands of her Greatgrandparents.

On the friday afternoon after an intense day of sightseeing in Oxford -it was wonderful to put the husband and babe to bed and watch a good film with my sister-in-law, while cuddling a nice cup of coffee and stuffing our pretty faces with chocolate!

Mentioned on One Pretty Thing!

Today is a lovely morning -
Stefan and Aline are still asleep, the coffee is steaming and smooth.

AND I found my birds were featured on One Pretty Thing (the amazing inspiring place that introduces you to all the lovely crafting going on.).

You can see it here.

This is what I'm giving away:

It's one of my circle headbands  embellished with vintage buttons. If you want to know how you might wear it take a look here.

Because the first one might not be everyone's style I've decided to also give away this one:

There are three ways to enter:

1. Say hello by leaving a comment on this post.

2. Follow me -that is on my blog of course...no need to follow me around Oxford. Though if you are in town let me know and we can grab a coffee! (If you all ready follow me - Thanks so much! Just mention it in your comment)

3. Mention my blog/this giveaway on facebook/twitter or on your blog. (Feel free to use the photo of the headband)

REMEMBER to let me know in your comment how many entries you are going for.
AND let me know which headband you would prefere! There will be two draws, but you can only enter one *wink*

Tag-cloths

Small fingers that like to touch and feel have now different textures to play with and a little mouth has tags to suck:

A small step into the wider world!

So I've take a step out into the land of blog-crafters and submitted one of my project to a compitition.

- see if you can spot Aline's smile and click on the picture to see which project I entered *wink*

Unedited Friday

It's the end of the week and how nice it would be to start the week-end with a nice, clean and tidy house like you see in the stunning interior blogs... how ever reality is this:

Luckily Stefan gave me some nice flowers yesterday *love you* and we have plenty of candles in the cupboard. The dust and mess doesn't show up in dim candle light! *wink*

Hope you have a lovely week-end and thanks for visiting!
There has now been over 2000 view of my blog - to celebrate that there'll be a give-away next week so stay tuned!
